Bael is an excellent source of protein. Fresh half-ripe Bael fruit is mildly astringent and is effective in dysentery and diarrhea. The pulp could also be eaten or the decoction administered. Bael is claimed to cure without creating any tendency to constipation. Bael leaves, fruits and root are often used as tonic and coolant with antibiotic properties.
