Rheumatism is an inflammation of white fibrous tissue tendons, ligaments, joint capsules, layers of fascia, the fibrous network underlying the skin, covering the bones, and sheath surrounding the muscle. The inflammation often causes tender and painful nodules. Allergy can be a major cause of rheumatism. Lack sufficient exercise may be a factor. In chronic cases, there is a dull aching pain with stiffness of the affected parts, which is worse after any physical activity.
