Common round worm infection is most prevalent in places with a warm climate but found all over. It lives chiefly in upper small intestine but may travel to other parts of digestive tract. The females produce large number of eggs readily recognisable in microscope. After a few weeks the embryo worms develop the eggs in places contaminated with faecal material. These eggs enter the mouth through unwashed hands or unclean finger nails and get attached to the intestinal walls where they hatch liberating tiny embryos. in the intestines of children especially, these worms may cause abdominal pain fever, diarrhoea, grinding of the teeth, restlessness and sometimes convulsions.
